Three decades of experience with trialogue : A strategy of social behavior change of community in leprosy

he present paper is based on experience gained from conduct of Trialogue, care and concern camps over three decades, for leprosy affected persons at community level. It aimed at care of deformities, abhorrence and stigma removal and rehabilitation of patients in their own families and community by changing their existing Knowledge, Attitude and Practice by altering the priorities to Practice, Attitude and Knowledge (PAK). Besides it also attempted to bring change in attitude of service providers including doctors, administrators and other peripheral stake holders responsible for health care. These camps were pioneered by Pandit th Patankar in last quarter of 20 century in field of infectious diseases (Leprosy) and much later repeated in nd st Europe in field of mental health in 2 decade of 21 century. Methodology of conducting such camp is based on cohesive action by Patients, Providers, and People (including families and Janbhagidars). In our experience Trialogue; care and concern camps have been found to be highly effective strategy for SBCC&C (Social Behavior Change Communication and Conviction). It is recommended that this strategy can be adopted for other diseases like HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and issues related to Mental health, immunization, child marriage etc., wherever the community perception needs to be changed.
