The successful implementation of comprehensive control paradigm for eliminating leprosy in Yunnan Province, China

Highlights: 

• The rate of leprosy detection rate, prevalence rate and the proportion of Grade 2 disability cases decrease significantly in Yunnan Province
• A total of 116 counties (districts) met the national criteria for the elimination of leprosy
• The successful experiences of Yunnan Province can provide valuable lessons for other regions, especially for developing countries.
