Physiotherapy Management in Cases of Pressure Ulcer E.C Morbus Hansen at Glagah Source Hospital: Case Report

Abstract

Leprosy is a disease caused by the bacterium Myobacterium Leprae (Fitria & Mellaratna, 2023). One of the complications that occur due to leprosy or morbus hansen is pressure ulcers (Motuho et al., 2023). Pressure ulcers are wounds that occur on the skin and underlying tissues due to prolonged pressure on certain areas of the body. This often occurs in people who lie or sit in the same position for a long time, such as in patients who cannot move independently. This research method is a case report conducted for 3 weeks at Sumber Glagah Mojokerto Hospital. The examinations used include pain examination (NRS), muscle strength examination (MMT), ROM examination (Goiniometer), and functional activity examination (Barthel index). Physiotherapy interventions used stretching, active exersice, passive exersice, strengthening exersice and ambulation transfer exercises. After 3 interventions, the results were obtained, namely decreased pain, increased muscle strength, and increased functional activity. However, there has been no increase in the scope of joint motion or ROM.
