MORBIDADE HOSPITALAR OCASIONADA POR HANSENÍASE NO ESTADO DO PIAUÍ

Leprosy is one of the oldest chronic and infectious diseases, with records dated to 600 BC. The present study aimed to analyze the impact of Hansen's disease awareness and prevention campaigns on its morbidity and prevalence. It is a basic diagnostic research, based on analysis of secondary data from DATASUS, on leprosy in the State of Piauí, between the years 2008 to 2020. Where it was possible to verify that the constant health promotion actions of the Ministry of Health and associates, in the control of this pathology, showed a decrease in hospital morbidity and improvements in the patients' quality of life.
