IMPORTÂNCIA DA ATENÇÃO FARMACÊUTICA PARA PACIENTES COM HANSENÍASE

Hansen's disease is considered an infectious disease, with thousands of cases reported annually in Brazil. The sequelae caused by the disease can result in physical disabilities for the patient. Health services provide treatments, however, patients' compliance is a major challenge. In this context, the attention directed to these patients by trained professionals is an important ally, capable of providing all the necessary information about the correct use of medicines, in addition to efforts directed at preventing or identifying drug reactions. The present study aimed to verify the importance of pharmaceutical care in the face of Hansen's disease. A descriptive observational study was carried out through a literature review in the databases SCIELO and LILACS. In order to report the importance of pharmaceutical care for patients undergoing treatment with specific polychemotherapy for Hansen's disease and how this activity can contribute to adherence and conclusion of treatment. In view of the analyzed articles, the need to increase efforts to introduce the Pharmaceutical Care Services in multiprofessional healthcare teams was evaluated, aiming to ensure the adequate availability of medicines, their conservation and quality, through the provision of assistance services, evaluating and taking information about the used drugs, aiming at the therapeutic effectiveness and safety for patients.
