Aspectos clínicos e epidemiológicos da hanseníase em menores de 15 anos em um município da amazônia legal.

Abstract

Introduction: Leprosy is an infectious and highly infectious disease that can lead to permanent physical disabilities. Although the disease is rare in childhood, leprosy in children younger than 15 years represents an indicator of disease transmissibility and high endemicity.

Objective: To analyze the clinical and epidemiological profile of leprosy cases in children under 15 years of age in a municipality in the legal Amazon.

Methodology: This is analytical descriptive research with a quantitative approach using secondary data from the SINAN Notifiable Diseases Information System, from 2017 to 2022.

Result: During the study, 6 cases were reported, 3 feminine and 3 masculine, it was noted that the positive bacilloscopic obtained a higher prevalence than the negative one. It was observed that the Virchowian clinical form reached the highest number of cases, followed by the Dimorphous and the indeterminate, while Tuberculoid had no case records.

Conclusion: It is concluded that children, due to prolonged exposure to the bacillus, can be affected in the late clinical forms of the disease, due to the lack of rapid appearance of signs and symptoms
