The actuation of nursing on the precaution, diagnosis and treatment of Hansen’s Disease on the primary attention healthcare in Baião – PA: an experience report

Formerly known as leprosy, the Hansen’s disease is a chronic infectious disease with a high-power inability, being this one the main responsible for people affected with this disease being stigmatized and discriminated against by several individuals in society. The purpose of this article is describing the experience of students from nursing school, while on voluntary extracurricular internship performed in a Family health program in the city of Baião-PA, Brazil. It’s a descriptive research of an experience report nature, about the performance of the nursing team in the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of Hansen’s disease. The experience of this Project made it possible to highlight the role of the professional nurse within the primary attention healthcare cases, especially in the execution of the Hansen’s disease surveillance program, showing the importance of this professional to support health and provide a bond with the patient. In addition to providing students with knowledge of the nursing routine within the unit and bringing then closer to the labor market,building technical and scientific knowledge to provide care based on experience.
