The Story of Bernado
Bernardo Nicamingo (73) is a father of six, from Zambézia, Mozambique. He began to notice patches on his skin and visited several local clinics — but no one knew what it was, and he was left without treatment.
In the meantime, NLR had set up a programme with the local government in highly endemic areas, to train local volunteer health workers. They are supported to recognise the signs of leprosy and other skin conditions, make early diagnoses, and ensure people receive timely treatment and appropriate follow‑up care.
