Romania Confirms First Leprosy Case in Over 40 Years

The Ministry of Health announced that a case of leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease, was confirmed in Cluj-Napoca on Thursday, and tests are still being carried out on three other people. The four women who work as masseuses at a salon are originally from Asia. This is the first case of leprosy diagnosed in Romania since 1981.

According to the Ministry of Health, the first two patients, who initially went to the Cluj County Emergency Hospital on November 26, are aged 21 and 25 and come from Indonesia.
