Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) is developping AI for detecting skin diseases in Africa
The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) is in the process of developing an AI-based app to facilitate early detection and monitoring of neglected tropical skin diseases (skin NTDs) in sub-Saharan Africa. Working with international partners, the project uses images of underrepresented darker skin types to train the AI model, helping to improve diagnosis, assess the severity and progression of a disease, and map its prevalence in regions with limited access to dermatological care.
