Call for input: Special Rapporteur on leprosy - Thematic Report to the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council Rights, "Memory, and Belonging: Realizing cultural, social, and economic rights in former leprosy colonies and settlements"

Purpose

To gather comprehensive information from States, authorities, and institutions regarding the historical legacy, current conditions, and future plans related to former leprosaria and leprosy colonies or settlements. The information gathered will contribute to the work of the UN Special Rapporteur on the elimination of discrimination against persons affected by leprosy (Hansen’s disease) and their family members, as part of ongoing efforts to document good practices, identify challenges, and promote human rights-based approaches to inclusion and reparation at the 62nd session of the Human in June 2026.
