Clinicopathological study of 50 cases of leprosy

Abstract
Objective To document different clinical and pathological patterns of leprosy in Northern Pakistan. Patients and methods Fifty clinically and histologically confirmed cases of leprosy were enrolled for this study. Results Forty patients were male and ten female. Seven patients had tuberculoid leprosy, 25 borderline tuberculoid, 3 borderline lepromatous, 13 lepromatous leprosy and 2 were indeterminate type. Highest number of patients belonged to Khyberpakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. Conclusion Leprosy is still prevalent in Pakistan. Doctors and other health personnel should be trained to make them aware of the different presentations of this disabling disease.
