The ILEP Federation is a consortium of NGOs committed to working together to fight leprosy, in partnership with others committed to this common goal.
Our strategy for 2016-2018 guides the work of the ILEP Federation. The ILEP Federation is a consortium of NGOs committed to working together to fight leprosy, in partnership with others committed to this common goal.
The ILEP Stratgy 2016-2018 was developed in 2015, a critical year in the achievement of a world free of leprosy. The United Nations (UN) agreed new Sustainable Development Goals, WHO produced a new global leprosy strategy and ILEP underwent a major restructuring. This ILEP strategy states the direction of the ILEP membership globally and in countries where we are working. It also shows the contribution that achieving our goal of a world free from leprosy, brings to broader efforts in tackling health, disability, development and human rights.
It was developed through extensive consultation with ILEP’s Executive Board, staff, Technical Commission, Panel of women and men affected by leprosy and over 60 interviews with people affected by leprosy, the WHO (including its Global Leprosy Programme), technical experts, the Novartis Foundation, the Gates Foundation, ILEP’s Country Coordinators, National Programme Managers, disability NGOs and coalitions.
These are our goals:
- Stopping the transmission of leprosy
- Preventing disability due to leprosy
- Promoting inclusion of people affected by leprosy.
