Yet another highly important function of vaccines is their utilization for "Eradication" of a disease. Eradication of small pox could not have been achieved without a vaccine. The same is being achieved for elimination of Poliomyelitis in several countries with the massive immunization of the children with the available vaccines, oral and/or injectable.
