A retrospective study of 3 cases of ENL and pregnancy was performed at Anandaban Hospital, a tertiary referral centre in Nepal for leprosy complication management. All patients were managed with oral corticosteroids for ENL treatment, and all developed oligohydramnios during pregnancy, with 2 intrauterine foetal deaths and one live birth with low birth weight. Pregnant leprosy patients with ENL should be closely monitored while on steroids to avoid the risk of low birth weight and stillbirth. Patients should be routinely investigated and counselled to avoid pregnancy during ENL treatment, particularly while on corticosteroids, due to potential risks to both mother and foetus.
