Leprosy, formerly known as leprosy, is a highly stigmatized, contagious, mutilating disease that causes rejection and prejudice to the patient. that its evolution can cause serious consequences, such as disabling injuries, thus increasing the social repercussions. The descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, was carried out at the Center for the Service of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (CADIP), screening the data and medical records of patients with the disease after releasing the information through a term of commitment signed with the Municipal Health Department of the municipality. from Fernandópolis/SP, data collection was carried out, following the script of elaborated questions.It was concluded with this work that, different from what the literature reports, there were more positive cases in women than in men. There was a prevalence of psychological problems in women, since the diseasea directly affects the appearance of patients with the disease. There was an increase in cases in the period from 2018 to 2019 of 94.11%, and a decrease of 37.87% from 2019 to 2020, and the number of cases increased again by 112% in the period of 2021, which we can suggest the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic, with leprosy becoming a neglected disease during its period.
