An extensive literature search did not reveal any reports of Burkholderia in association with Hansen’s disease. We present here a case of a 34 year male with lepromatous leprosy with recurrent type 2 reaction presenting with right iliopsoas abscess due to Burkholderia pseudomallei; he was treated successfully with meropenem and doxycycline. This is the first case report of Burkholderia pseudomallei abscess coexisting with Hansen’s disease.
