Objective: to analyze the prevalence of leprosy cases. Method: epidemiological, transversal, descriptive study, with quantitative approach. The data source used was the Notification of Injury Information System (SINAN), made available by the Secretariat of Health, including all new case data. The Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were used to analyze the variables; level of significance of 5% (p <0.05). Results: There was a prevalence of 2,696 cases, predominantly male (56.05%); brown (46.92%); age group 35-49 (30.16%); urban residents (90.21%) and 5th to 8th grade incomplete elementary school (25.89%); multibacillary cases (61.16%); dimorphic clinical form (51.37%); therapeutic regimen MDT / MB / 12 doses (51.26%) and zero degree of disability (79.08%). Conclusion: the municipality continues to be an endemic region, and should promote control and reduction of cases. Descriptors: Prevalence; Leprosy; Primary Health Care; Epidemiological Studies.
