  abstract = {Leprosy is a serious public health problem in Brazil. In addition to the aggravating factors inherent to any disease of socioeconomic origin, the psychological repercussion generated by physical disabilities arising from the disease is highlighted. These disabilities are, in reality, the major cause of the patient's stigma and isolation in society. This study aims to analyze the application of the Systematization of Nursing Assistance (SAE) in the prevention and correction of physical disabilities in patients with leprosy, as well as to describe nursing care in primary care that must be adopted in patient care; demonstrate the importance of effective assistance for the prevention of physical disabilities. This article has social, epidemiological and academic relevance, since there are few studies related to the theme, and little by little, without emphasis on the “sequelae” that are physical disabilities. The present research follows a qualitative approach, of a descriptive type, which was carried out through the collection of secondary data in scientific articles, Ministry of Health manuals, monographs, dissertations and theses published between 2004 and 2018. As results, it was identified that the prevention and correction of physical disabilities have been left in the background, among the control actions, which are centered on early diagnosis and adequate treatment of patients, showing that strategies for the prevention and correction of disabilities in Primary Care are lacking. Therefore, the nurse, as an integral part of the team and historically an educator in their health actions, will be able to contribute to the reflection on the possibilities of reorienting care practices in this area, aiming to provide quality care, focused on the client and their real needs. needs. Therefore, it is necessary to create care plans based on the Nursing Care Systematization (SAE) that aim to provide a better quality of life to patients, with simple and accessible care.},
