@article{94229, author = {Freitas MC and Shibata LH and Carvalho LP and Novais Júnior RT}, title = {Impact of educational intervention on leprosy on the level of knowledge of community health workers in Belém do Pará}, abstract = {Leprosy is one of the oldest diseases that concern humanity, being historically associated with a mutilating and disabling image. Brazil occupies the second position in the global ranking of leprosy notifications. In this context, the Family Health Strategy has an important role in the prevention and control of the disease, with Community Health Agents (CHWs) being a link between the service offered and the target community, information disseminator and also responsible for identifying new cases. Thus, the study aimed to evaluate the impact of educational intervention on the knowledge of CHWs in leprosy, in the organization of care and in stigmas related to this disease, being carried out in 5 Family Health Units in the metropolitan region of Belém, in the State of To Brazil. An adapted protocol was used to assess the agents' initial knowledge on the topic. Subsequently, there was a training based on the information recommended by the Ministry of Health, and then the protocol was applied again in order to assess the impact of the training. As a result, 26% of errors were obtained in the pre-questionnaire and 9% of errors in the post-test, showing an overall gain of 18% of correct answers in the questionnaire applied after training and an average of individual evolution of 39% of correct answers when compared to the pre-test. Thus, it is concluded that educational interventions are effective and necessary, especially in the context of Primary Care, requiring further studies on the topic.}, year = {2020}, journal = {Brazilian journal of health review}, volume = {3}, pages = {8821-8837}, issn = {2595-6825}, url = {https://www.brazilianjournals.com/index.php/BJHR/article/viewFile/13598/11392}, language = {por}, }
