  abstract = {Objective: To analyze and understand the risk factors for leprosy from the abandonment of its treatment. Method: This is a bibliographic review, with a qualitative and exploratory approach. To survey the studies, a source made available by consulting the database of the Virtual Health Library with the descriptors {\textquotedblleft}Hansen{\textquoteright}s disease{\textquotedblright}, {\textquotedblleft}treatment{\textquotedblright}, {\textquotedblleft}Risk factor{\textquotedblright} and {\textquotedblleft}Adherence to treatment{\textquotedblright} was used. Results and discussion: The factors that contributed to treatment abandonment were: lack of family monitoring with the user, lack of information on the part of the health team, prejudice, adverse reactions with medications. Conclusion: We conclude the need for health teams to work together with users, so that there is an effective treatment.},
