  abstract = {<p>The evaluation of physical disabilities caused by hanseniasis at the moment of the diagnosis, was carried out through the clinical and epidemiological forms of the 8,915 cases recorded in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, from 1981 to 1983. The resulting data showed that the disabilities' evaluation at the moment of the diagnosis is an important index for the hanseniasis control programme specially when related to other variable elements involved in the diagnosis of the hanseniasis situation.</p>},
