The hidden burden of neglected tropical diseases: a call for inter-sectoral collaboration in Nepal.

The real burdens of most of NTDs in Nepal are not known. Therefore, the burden of each NTD that is endemic in Nepal should be estimated urgently, and appropriate resources should be allocated accordingly to achieve better prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment and, where feasible, lasting elimination from the country. In this context, there is clearly a need for an evidenceinformed scale up of NTD control programmes.
