CD123, the plasmocytoid dendritic cell phenotypic marker, is abundant in leprosy type 1 reaction.
Abstract
The chronic course of leprosy is aggravated by the emergence of reactional states such as type 1 reaction (T1R). The occurrence of T1R is deemed to be a sudden and heightened inflammatory response that eventually compromises the skin and peripheral nerves (1) . T1R occurs more frequently among the unstable borderline forms (BT, BB and BL) but has also been known to occur in lepromatous patients (LL)(2).
